Having spent his first year on 2 wheels with a 50c scooter my son would like to move on to a 125. Does anyone know what needs to be done and the cost of doing this???
I'm asking as I don't understand why the driving school are asking for 600 euros for training. He did his written test and had a day and a bit training for the 50cc test. Can someone explain?? |

| don't know if this is much help but my son plans to change next year and he has said that there is another test to take but did not give the impression that it would cost that much but i have to say that the training done for the 50cc did not seem that adequate if they are going to a bigger bike; if you get no joy through the site email me at the weekend and i will get my son to ring with the info he has |

Your son currently has a Brevet de Security Routiere (scooter permit) which allows him to ride his low power 50cc. To ride a bigger motorcycle, he will have to sit a fresh test to gain a category A1 driving licence.
The reason he needs further training is because the 125 is a geared bike and therefore more complex - and capable of twice the speed of his 50cc scooter......

I've been out on his scooter and topped just short of 85kmh, also paced him in a car just to check. SOMEWHAT BESIDE THE POINT BUT Wow 175 kmh 125cc bikes!
So what if he just went for a 125cc scooter. No gears again?

| Oh right. I didn't know it was that fast no wonder he seems happy with it. It must be something to do with the lion emblem on it. |
