Cost usually around the 200 euro mark, but depends on size of animal, how he reacts to the anaesthetic, whether it is done 'standing' or not and how smoothly the operation goes. He will need to be checked by your vet first to make sure all is 'in order' before the operation is booked.

Usually you will not find a vet willing to do one at this time of the year, but with the present weather being cooler than normal, you might be in luck, if you can organise it VERY soon.

You don't say whereabouts you are, but if your usual vet doesn't do this type of operation, he/she will be able to refer you to one who does.

Hi,

Thank you, we are near Sauze Vaussais and wouldnt have him done until late Oct/Nov time. Wanted to compare with UK prices as to whether to have him done in the UK before shipping or after.

Thanks again

Would seriously consider having him done in the UK, unless your French is very good, then if you did have any problems at least you would fully understand what was being said and you may have to take the horse to the vets here as they don't always come out to do the "job". Hope this helps.

We are near Civray - vet came out and did him at home (4 years old, 155cms - weighed about 380kgs)

For her pre op check & visit, the op itself - and then extra antibiotics afterwards - it came to around 400 euros
