Yes, you are still legally allowed to drive your car.

This is an interesting point. I always thought that a CT with faults to correct for a Contre Visite was legal to use during the two month period but not afterwards without another CT test. On a recent thread on this subject someone, who is a renowned expert on these matters, stated that you are not allowed to drive the vehicle if you have a CT with a contre visite until the faults have been rectified and the re-test carried out. Apparently the two month rule is the maximum time allowed for a re-test and after this period a full CT test will be required again. It doesn't give you permission to use the vehicle on the road during this time. Faults serious enough to make a contre visite required would technically make the vehicle un-roadworthy.

I have no reason to doubt the observations of this particular 'poster' as in my experience he doesn't ever seem to have been wrong in the past.

Regards, Ray.

Nothing mechanical - rear seat belt has slight tear - so needs replacing, front number plate - needs replacing and headlights need re adjusting - all pretty straitforward - none the less a failed CT - still unsure if, allowed to drive - so best I go back to the centre and recheck as stated nothing mechanical or dangerous and getting the three offenders sorted

You can legally drive it. Fact. If it's tyres, brakes or something that an 'expert' would consider it to be unroadworthy on, the reason lots of people don't is because if you have an accident your insurance company will not pay out on the grounds that your car is not fit to be driven on a public road, thus no insurance for you or a third party (car, people or property).

Sunday Driver - it's contre visite, by the way, not contra visite.
