Please can anyone advise me what months of the year fishing is permitted in France please ?

Depends what species you are fishing for.

I think that Class 2 species (coarse fish) is all year with restrictions on fishing for pike & zander from 1/1 to 30/4

Class 1 species (trout) starts 2nd saturday in March and ends 3rd Saturday in September.

If you google 'permis de peche' and your department number then you should find all you need to know - in French of course - but easy enough to understand.
