Garden swimming pools

frenchrank writes in General

Thinking of buying one of these 5m diameter swimming pools for the garden.

I believe they are easy to erect and come with a filter and steps.

can someone advise what else is needed to maintain them, ie do I need any chemicals etc to keep it clean.

Appreciate any thoughts, good or bad from anyone who has one of these.

cheers

No problems with the above grounds, you use multi fonction tablets to keep it clean etc. Best put onto a concrete base as they do tend to move which puts pressure on them.

Hope this helps,

Concrete is not essential for the base but it does need to be level and some carpet or similar for it to sit on is a good idea. You will need some test strips to monitor the water quality.

We have had a above ground pool for 3 years now and generally is good. As previous posts say it must be put on a stable flat ground and well worth buying (if not included) the carpet type underlay as well as putting down a layer of fine sand underneath to stop anything sharp from trying to push through.

Another tip is to put a fillet of sand around the bottom inside edge under the liner to "break" the corner. I say this because on ours, there is a plastic strip that goes around the bottom of the metal sides and sticks out slightly pushing into the liner when the pool is full.

Its easy to "scuff" the liner when cleaning causing small holes which we have found out the hard way !!! (although my wife enjoyed holding my head under the water when I fixed the leaks, not sure why!! )

Hope this helps
