Missing Westie

marreah writes in Pets & Animals

My eight year old Westie went missing from home yesterday. I can see no place at all that she could have got through some very secure fencing and even if she had managed to do so, she is not a wanderer, but in the hope that she has escaped and not been taken, please would you look out for her. She is wearing a red collar and is called Megan. She is chipped and first thing tomorrow morning I will inform the gendarmerie and the vets that she is missing. She lives in Maisons Blanches, very close to Limalonges and on the road that runs between Sauze Vaussais and Civray.
The telephone number is 0973 842 159.
Many thanks, Maria

Hi Maria,

Sorry to hear this news, will keep a lookout for Megan when we're around that way. Sounds like you're doing all you can, we do hope she'll turn up soon.

Thank you, Jan and Dave - we've been out looking for her again, but no luck.

Marreah, put up posters everywhere with photo and chip number. Draw as much attention to her disappearance as possible. Give a poster to your postman and also put one up where the postmen go in and out at the post office. Also put one where all the lorry drivers are at Maisons Blanches.

Also a good idea to put her on www.chien-perdu.org, there are a lot of very helpful people on there.

My very best of luck to you, I so hope you get her back.

If her chip is registered in France, inform the Central Canine that she is missing.

Just for the info, were you at home when she disappeared?

Hi Christine,
I was at home, yes, but there were a lot of people around yesterday. Maisons Blanches is very close to the lorry park and we have been over there this morning asking the drivers and looking around the lorries.
Thank you for all your advice and I will look at chien perdu now.
Thank you, Maria

I read on AI recently about a lost dog and one of the owners neighbours (Chap from the chasse) advised to get an old shirt, sheet, etc and rub your scent on it, then cut into pieces and lay a trail from where the dog was last seen to home. It seemed to work as the dog turned up at around 3am if I recall correctly.

Good luck.

Have you seen Sunlovers posting? By the sound of it they have found a Cairn (Westie?) - you never know!
