olympics

is it me, or am i the only british person who is sick to death of this endless drawl about how wonderful this money making fiasco is?
how wonderful it will be for future sports stars to be able use the facilities when they are potential stars, only if you happen to live in london that is. if you think that is not the case, how much does it cost to go to a concert at the O2 (another very sucessful investment by our leaders).
does anybody think that it is ok for sponsors of this event to ban any products that they do not sell, earn a fortune and pay no tax on profits?
seems a bit odd to me.

My main gripe is that I can no longer get Radio 4 and 5 on my radio app' in the mornings until these b***** games are over. 'World News' is available although a poor second.
And what has happened to television........

Although I am no longer a UK tax payer, I would like to see the final accounts for the games as compiled by a truly honest accountant. I cannot believe that the country will have a net income from them bearing in mind the enormous expense of building the venues and providing "security".
I imagine the French government must be very happy that Paris lost the bid.

Well said,

I for one look at the overall picture and clearly see, the so called wonderful Olympics and all its facilities were certainly not constructed and provided for the benefit of the general public. This is another scheme to ensure that the public of Britain pay for another cash cow for business' who put nothing of value into the scheme and take all publicity and tax advantages for their companies.

As you point out, what will be the cost to the general public to use the available facilities, after all the fuss and promotions have died down? I would say they will become very prohibitive and will not serve the people who have paid for the whole fiasco.

As usual the people who paid for the Olympics, will shrug their shoulders and state, "Well what can we do about the situation"

I am not cynical and I am glued to watching wonderful athletes attempt to do the impossible. I am happy that facilities are provided so that these dedicated people can perform to the utmost of their ability, sadly more losers than winners. Therefore I believe all the multinationals should finance these wonderfull games,in the future seeing that they get all the financial and publicity benefits.

I understand that there isn't a Country who has hosted it before that's made a profit so why would a Country in recession as the UK is want to play host. I think the only people who were really looking forward to them (other than the opening ceremony) are the sports people themselves.

As always there is a small minority who have to put down a world event being held successfully in the Uk.
As we live in France who also bid to hold the games would you have moved back to the Uk if there bid had won !!
Get a life and switch off if your not interested .Let the sport lovers of the world enjoy the games.
