Hi we have just purchased a house in the Auge St Medard commune and have 3 lovely boys age 4, 6 & 10. We home educate in the UK due to our eldest having a learning disability but plan to be in France 5-6 months of the year. We would love to meet some other families with children of a similar age in the area. 

We would also be interested in any tutors in French , Maths, Science, latin, History, Geography, music etc who would be happy to come to our home to teach . It may be there are ex school teachers within your members or you have experience of using some locally. Our eldest is at GCSE level in Maths, English and Science which is a little challenging but is an incredibly normal kid who loves Lego, toy cars and Minecraft!

We would love to more out here permanently but I run a business and hubby commutes to London so not possible just yet!

You'll need to decide precisely how long you are going to be in France during any one year.  If you are here for six months of the year or more you are considered as French residents and to home school your children of 6 years and over you need to write formally to the Education Department because schooling for them will fall under French law and is obligatory.

Private tutors are normally paid by CESU (chèque emploi) and social charges are almost 9 euros an hour on top of their hourly rate.  You can claim up to 50% of this back but only if you are French residents and submit a French tax declaration. 

That's not entirely true about private tutors. I don't accept CESU because I'm an auto-entrepreneur. It's either one or the other. If you hire an auto-entrepreneur you don't pay their social charges. 

We are planning to be out here just under 6mths each year. We follow a very structured curriculum in the UK as it suits our boys personalitities and just want to top up or even try new subjects whilst we are out in France so if anyone knows of any tutors in the Rouillac/Jarnac area we woud be very interested.
