Hi, sometime back I read on here that the airport was to reopen next year but have not heard anything since. Has anyone else?

The airport isn't closed as such, it just hasn't any flights to the UK.

......or anywhere else for that matter!

Angouleme is a great airport... and we have our aircraft located there... Fantastic service and hassle free...

The French airforce frequently use the airport as do lots of other private owners..

This is one of the usual hopeful postings on this subject. There will not be any UK flights from this airport until a proven business plan can be put forward by  the very people who would require the facilitry of regular flights to the uk. Mainly Ex-Pats and quite a few French Business men and the professional people who work in the UK.

As far as the Ex-Pats are concerned, it is about time some kind of pressure was brought to bear on the administration in Angouleme by the Ex-Ptas who would use the airport regularly. Some imagination would be needed and a considerable understanding of the French language and the  " French Way."

Organising a petition possibly through this site may the place to start. I for one, being of an older age would certainly join in any kind scheme to bring UK flights back to Angoulem. Hopefully someone will have the wherewithall to do it.

Surely the problem is that restarting flights from Angouleme doesn't actually create more passengers but merely diverts them from other regional airports. This probably means that only a newcomer to the market would see Angouleme as a real business opportunity.  

When up and running, the Ryanair flights from Angouleme had bad timings that left people at Stansted around 11pm!  Any airport would have struggled to get passengers with that slot IMHO!
